    Hello!!

Sorry everybody that I've been away for so long.

I've been busy with some great things going on in my life. The College Board moved offices (just across the street), we joined Zipcar :) and I've got some really awesome things going on in my walk with God too. More to come... How are you doing?

Come on Mr. Mayor... It's like that?!

So it was announced yesterday that the Mayor of Philadelphia (who we got to meet and I got to talk with for about 25 minutes at a Flag Football game this fall), Michael Nutter, has proposed a property tax increase for the next two fiscal years.

Now I understand the purpose of property tax increases and would normally not have a problem with this if it weren't for the fact that it's 19%!!! And then 14.5% for the year after that!!!

Nutter has become mayor of Philadelphia during a time that couldn't be worse for the people living here. Philadelphia is under a $175 million shortfall in their current budget. Our unemployment rate is at an all time high... So in a time where all Philadelphians are hurting, our psyche continues to be stepped on.

Here's a quote from a Reuters article: "When a major city faces a budget shortfall of $175 million, should it close public swimming pools, reduce the size of the police force, spend less money repairing roads or raise taxes?"

This year in Philadelphia ALL of these things have happened. Pile on the closing of 11 of the city libraries and... I just don't know where to go...

When we met Mayor Nutter this fall in Fairmount Park before one of my football games, he seemed like a very nice man. I don't know him well enough to really say that, but I have to think that no matter who was mayor at this time in Philadelphia, people would be outraged.

The city of brotherly love is becoming a bit stingy in giving it out...
